Thrill is growing among gamers as Nintendo prepares to test an undisclosed feature for the Nintendo Switch Online service. This initiative promises to unveil something new and intriguing for players.
The trial event, referred to as the Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program, is slated to commence on October 24 and will last until November 6. Although specific details about the feature remain a mystery, Nintendo has confirmed that this new addition is indeed tied to the existing Nintendo Switch Online service.
To participate in the playtest, Nintendo is looking for individuals who hold a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. Participants will also need to install special software onto their Nintendo Switch consoles to engage in the test.
Interested players can apply for the playtest by visiting the dedicated Application Page linked in the announcement. Additionally, applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a Nintendo Account linked to one of several countries, including Japan, the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.
Nintendo has indicated an expectation to accept around 10,000 testers, with the potential for early closure of applications if this number is reached ahead of schedule.
Meanwhile, discussions about a potential new console, often referred to as the Nintendo Switch 2, are gaining momentum. Recent leaks suggest the final design has been revealed through approximately 12 images shared in September. These images portray what appears to be a larger version of the current model featuring a more expansive display.
Although Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement regarding the new console, it has confirmed that an unveiling will occur before this year concludes, hinting that the anticipated successor could see a launch in 2025.
